The effort by Democratic State Senator Elizabeth Steiner Hayward to do away with Oregon’s religious exemption for school children immunizations is over, at least for now.

Evergreen H.S. Teacher Pleads Not Guilty To Raping Student

VANCOUVER, Wash. — An Evergreen High School teacher accused of having a sexual relationship with a 15-year-old student and manipulating him plead not guilty in a Clark County courtroom on Wednesday.

35-year-old Stephanie McCrea is charged with child rape, sexual misconduct with a minor and witness tampering.  She taught drama and English and worked with students on the school’s newspaper.

Tentative Deal Reached Between Portland Teachers and District

More Mediaton for Teachers Union & PPS

Another round of mediation is schedule for Tuesday between Portland Public Schools and the Portland Association of Teachers.

The union is threatening to strike, starting February 20th, unless an agreement is met on a new contract.  Issues still remain between the two parties, including class size, salary increases and early retirement incentives.
