Fresh pears are in abundance right now-and as Oregon’s “Official state fruit”, thought this libation would be a good one to enjoy with friends.

Ingredients: 
2 (Anjou or Bartlett) pears-cored and sliced, 2 Granny Smith apples-cored and sliced, 20 whole cloves, 1 tsp. nutmeg-ground, 3oz. Damiana liqueur,1-750 ml bottle dry while wine-chilled, 1-750 ml bottle champagne-chilled.

This week, we’re pairing a delicious fall fruit with a south of the border staple-tequila. It’s a libation known as the Mood Shifter.

Ingredients: 
1.5oz vanilla infuses Tequilla,1/4oz.orange liqueur,2oz.fresh tangerine juice,1 teaspoon confectioner’s sugar,3 fresh mint leaves.1 tangerine wheel.

Preparation: 
Put liquid ingredients into a shaker, add mint leaves, shake vigorously, and strain into a chilled cocktail glass. Garnish with a tangerine wheel.


Apple Sauce Slushy

Here’s a unique libation that takes advantage of the fact that October is applejack month-AND this concoction utilizes a canned food item from your pantry! It’s called the Apple Sauce Slushy!

Ingredients:
4oz. sweet and sour mix, 3oz. apple sauce-drained, 1oz. applejack, ¾.oz triple sec. 12oz. ice cubes and a small braeburn apple wedge.
