The Dallas Mavericks a team trying to find some success after having started the season slowly due to their star Dirk Nowitzki missing time due to injury, face off against the Blazers at the Rose Garden arena.
Dallas head coach Rick Carlisle joined The Bald Faced Truth with John Canzano to talk about the match-up against the Blazers.
When the Dallas Mavericks won the NBA championship Rick Carlisle's assistant coach was Terry Stotts who is currently the head coach of the Portland Trail Blazers. Rick talked with John about Stotts as a coach.
"This is Terry's type of team, we had the great luxury of having a great shooting big man with Nowitzki and he's got one with Aldridge, Aldridge can post up as well as Dirk can. The perimeter guys here in Portland really move well without the ball and they shoot the three."
The Dallas rotation has been evolving all season in large part due to Dirk Nowitzki having missed time because of injury. Rick talks with John about the rotation and it's shakeup.
"I know how players like to have consistency but when you're six or seven games under .500 and you've had kind of a struggling year like we've had I think all bets are off. You've got to keep searching and keep trying different things to try and spark the fire and bust out. Going forward all those things are kind of in play."
Rick and John talk about Rick's time in Portland and his thoughts on the city now and when he was a resident.
