GMO-regon?
Fear of technology is crippling jobs and industry in
Oregon. The latest example come from
Ashland where a vote has been scheduled to outlaw GMO crops. Those are crops where the seed has been
improved by science. Virtually everything you eat tonight for dinner
genetically modified. But that process
too centuries and it was inexact and its dangerous. Making better seed through science on the
other hand improves the nutrition of crops, cuts down on their need for water,
and pesticides and herbicides. Its all
about feeding this country and the world. Yet voters may outlaw it. Just as
voters have outlawed the greenest form of power in Oregon, nuclear plants. And they’ve sought to stop natural
gas…drilling for it or storing it…importing or exporting it. all around us,
small vocal luddite minorities want to stop technology in its tracks…and then
folks wonder why jobs and average income suffer in the state of Oregon
