The new school at daybreak

November 2009 fire

More than three years in the making, excited students and teachers returned to a brand new Marysville Elementary School in Southeast Portland.

The 87-year-old building was destroyed by fire in November 2009.  460 students were relocated to Rose City Park in Northeast Portland all the while.

Portland Public Schools spent $4.5 Million to repair the building.  It has new fire alarms, sprinkler system, handicapped access and a science lab.

An official grand opening ceremony is set for January 17th.
