It's a girl! Rose Tu, the elephant gave birth at 2:17 this morning to a 300 pound baby girl. She had been pregnant for the last 22 months. It is her second calf. Her firstborn is Samudra. The zoo says she is beautiful, healthy, tall and very vigorous and she's vocalizing loudly. Rose Tu was in labor for more than 30 hours. She became pregnant in February of 2011. Tusko is the father.
