New Details about Driver who Dangled over 217

Police have released new details about the man who drove his truck through the railing on the Southwest Denney Road overpass Saturday afternoon.

38 year old Matthew Alan Hamilton of Beaverton spent the afternoon drinking and watching the Civil War football game at a friends house.  After leaving the friend's house, Hamilton crashed his truck, leaving it and himself  dangling over 217. Beaverton Police were called out to the scene just after 3:30 Saturday afternoon.

Tualatin Valley Fire and Rescue used chains and ropes to secure the truck to a fire engine. Another engine with a bucket was then used to get Hamilton to safety.

Hamilton was taken to the hospital with non life threatening injuries.  His blood alcohol level was at .5 percent, more than six-times the legal limit.  Hamilton was placed under arrest for DUII and driving with a suspended license from a prior DUII.   He'll be in front of a judge at 3pm today, where he faces charges of driving under the influence, reckless driving, driving with a suspended license, and violating probation.

A crane had to be used to remove the truck from the overpass.
