Newberg Toddler Struck and Killed

A Newberg toddler being pushed in a toy car by his 13-year-old cousin and 15-year-old sister yesterday afternoon was hit by a car on 4th Street near South Meridian. 

The boy was flown by Life Flight to a hospital.  1-year-old Alex Gastelum later died.  His sister says she can't understand why the driver did not see them crossing the street.

The driver was not cited and has cooperated fully with the investigation.  Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances leading to the crash.
