One of the wrecked vehicles

Friday afternoon winds snapped a large tree along Highway 99E between Oregon City and Gladstone, falling across the lanes and crashing down onto two vehicles on the Clackamas River Bridge.

Six people luckily escaped injury.  Both vehicles were damaged and could not be driven from the scene.  The first was hit in the windshield as the driver swerved to avoid the tumbling tree.  The second vehicle was hit in the right corner of the windshield and passenger area.

The tree was up to 24" in diameter.  It blocked all lanes for about an hour.
