We've heard a lot about the value of life this
week and how it can end in an instant.
So lets take a look at policies the leaders of Oregon embrace. Hundreds of criminals released from the
Multnomah county jail because of crowding while a perfectly good jail, worth
sixty million, sits empty. The governor
supports abortion on demand but refuses to allow state law to put convicted
killers to death. Oregon embraces death
through doctor assisted suicide…supported loudly by Doctor Death himself,
Governor Kitzhaber. When I read this
morning that Belgium is considering euthanasia for children, I wondered, how
long till Oregon follows suit. After
all, we let kids use marijuana. And now
we’re debating the proposal by state representative Dennis Richardson to arm
teachers. Why is there a debate. You
trust teachers with the lives of your kids doing a bunch of things that could
hurt or kill them if done wrong. Why not
trust them with a gun to guard the lives of your kids. Notice the pattern here. The President has
put “crazy Joe” Biden in charge of figuring out how to keep crazy people from
getting guns. O-K And if you trust Obama and company to set the rules for
protecting schools…I’d suggest you first consult the late U.S. Ambassador to
Libya, Chris Stevens. Ask him how well
they protected his life.

We've been sharing the road with Pot smokers for
some time. But now that Marijuana has
been legalized in Washington State, I guarantee there will be more. Last night in my Vancouver Neighborhood, one
of those pot heads hit and killed a pedestrian.
Ordinarily the dead man would be at fault, because he walked out into
traffic and not at a crosswalk. But the
police say that because the driver of the car was high on marijuana, he’s
legally at fault. They think this is the
first Pot related fatality since legalization.
Here’s the way I figure it.
People smoke the drug, but now that it’s legal more will join them. And it’s going to be harder to prosecute
marijuana intoxication. With a
breathalyzer you can measure blood alcohol closely. But Pot stays in your blood for days and when
cases come to court, you’re going to see defense attorneys argue that the
smoker wasn’t tokin’ the day he drove.
So people heading out to party will quickly figure out that inhaling
means less chance of prosecution than imbibing.
And all that stuff about pot heads being safer drivers…try telling that
to the man killed by Scotty Rowles last night.

Jesus Christ once advised his disciples to buy
swords even if they had to sell something to do it. Jesus understood the need for self defense
from bad guys. Our society seems to have
forgotten on that lesson. Let’s consider
some facts. Crazy people do insane
things and that’s been true throughout human history. Last week, one crazy person murdered people
at a shopping mall. Later in the week,
another crazy person murdered children and teachers in Connecticut. Both shootings stopped when men with guns
showed up. At the Mall, a private
citizen named Nick Meli pulled out a pistol and the killer stopped shooting,
ran off and took his own life. In
Newtown, the killer slaughtered with impunity until he could hear sirens outside
and then ended his own miserable life.
All you have to ask is…what would have happened if the men and women
with guns were already inside the school or the mall when the killer showed up. It’s not a cure all. And by the way…the mall shooter stole his gun
and the school shooter had a gun that’s illegal to buy in that state. Those laws didn't work. Both places were “gun free zones”. When the insane decide to kill, their target
of choice is always a “gun free zone”.
If you want safety, zones and bans are not the answer.

First Clackamas and now this. A shooting in newtown Connecticut at an elementary school and the reports now say at least 26 are dead including 18 children. The numbers may be higher. The murderer is dead and his body lies inside the school at this point. The 20 year old killer has been identified as Adam Lanza of Hoboken, New Jersey and that the body of his mother has been found at a home in New-town. First…say a prayer for all of the families in that town…those who’ve lost children and parents…for the staff and the teachers at that school. Ask yourself this…are your kids safe…and does the school your kids go to keep them safe. Are there things that would make them safer. We guard city hall and celebrities and banks and big buildings with armed guards…yet most schools don’t get that kind of protection until the day after something like this happens. Israel used to have Palestinian terrorists attack schools with guns…until they started arming the staff and the teachers. It worked there. But as a society many people recoil at the thought. Let me suggest something to you…if the building you work in is guarded by folks who can stop a killer like the one who did this deed…why isn’t your son or daughter’s school protected as well?

State Senator Ginny Burdick doesn’t let dead
bodies get in the way of a political agenda…she actually uses them as the
platform for what she wants. Yesterday,
victims from the Clackamas Town Center shooting murders hadn’t even been
autopsied, let alone laid to rest when Gun Grabbing Ginny shot out her first
email with a petition to take gun rights from Oregonians. This lawmaker, who never tires of reminding
people that she “grew up with guns”, yet doesn’t even know the proper
terminology for guns, has been on a Jihad against the 2nd amendment
for decades. This time she is proposing
a limit on the number of bullets you can put in a gun. Ten bullets is okay with Senator Burdick, but
11 is too many. Jake Roberts stole a gun
and committed murder at the mall, shooting three and killing two and firing a
total of 60 rounds. He used two 30 round
magazines, but if he had come to Clackamas town center with 6 ten round
magazines. The senator’s bill would
require the killer to bring 6 ten round magazines. In any case, it would still be legal under
the Burdick’s boondoggle bullet bill to own high capacity magazines. You just could buy or sell them. This is what democrats think of as a solution
to a problem.

Say a prayer for those wounded and killed in
yesterday’s shooting at Clackamas Town Center. But you can also hope that the folks who write our laws don’t try to
forbid legal, law abiding citizens from owning and using firearms. The most
dangerous place in the world you can be is a “gun free zone”. The campus of Virginia tech was a gun free
zone and a criminal murdered people there. The movie house in Aurora, Colorado was another gun free zone and people
died there too. God Bless the police and
the risks they take but when seconds count, the best cop is usually at least a
few minutes away. Oregon’s virtually
guaranteed to hear State Senator Ginny Burdick begin her tried and true best to
disarm citizens at the coming legislative session. Crazy people have been a part of human
societies for the whole of human history. Laws written on a piece of paper don’t stop them…can’t stop them. But ask yourself this as you walk into a “gun
free” store. Have you ever heard of a nut
carrying out a mass shooting at a police station, or a gun show? Some will say that this isn't the time to
talk about matters like this but as far as I’m concerned, this is the very best
time.
