Lars got his start in radio at age 16 spinning records (remember 45s?) and reading news, sports and weather (twice an hour) on KTIL (The Mighty 1590) from a little cinderblock building on the edge of a cow pasture in Tillamook, Oregon (75 miles West of Portland, Oregon).
36 years later, he’s only moved 75 miles east to Portland and light years to “the Right”. Emmy and Peabody award winner Lars Larson brings nearly four decades of experience as a radio and television journalist to the microphone for six hours of the best talk radio in America. Six hours of daily prep keep The Lars Larson Show on top of the news and top-of-mind for listeners across the country.
Along the way, Lars has worked for more than a dozen radio stations and five television stations. Today, Lars holds down the fort from 12pm – 4pm on Radio Northwest flagship FM NEWS 101 KXL. His local talk show airs on seventeen stations in the Pacific Northwest (and earns him the biggest local talk radio audience in the region).

Would You Vote For A Former Convict To Represent You In CongressWould you consider voting for an ex-con to represent your congressional district in Washington D.C.? Paul McKinley is hoping you'll vote for him because of his vision for the future, rather than the mistakes of his past. McKinley has paid his debt to society and, since being released from prison, has dedicated his life to helping other former convicts make new lives for themselves. I've heard a lot of people say that the best drug an alcohol counselors are former addicts. Maybe that applies here as well. McKinley says that he isn't running against a candidate, but he is running against what he calls the "Chicago Machine," which he says has been corrupting the city for decades. I asked him about gun control, illegal immigration, and a host of other issues. Do you think a man like Paul McKinley could make waves of change in Washington?

Get Government Out Of Marriage!I've been saying this for 16 years: WE NEED TO GET GOVERNMENT OUT OF MARRIAGE! There is no reason for the government to regulate the most intimate relationship you have in your life. There is no reason for a citizen to have to ask the government for permission to get married. Think about it this way; in almost any other relationship you have, you don't have to ask the government's permission to get into that relationship. People like your doctor, your accountant, and your mechanic. And you don't have to ask the government's permission to get out. But with marriage, the government says you must ask us for permission, and we will grant it...if we decide that you meet the criteria. And if you want a divorce, you, again, have to ask for the government's permission. Why would freedom and liberty loving Americans give up that freedom? Remember, this is not something granted by the government. Marriage is an individual right, and if you let the government tell you when you can do it, how you can do it, and when you can get out of it...then you have given up a big part of your personal liberty on the most personal relationship you can possibly have.

Justice Could Be Knox-ing At The DoorAmanda Knox is going to be retried for murder in Italy, and I think it's a great move. In my eyes she's guilty based on the evidence that was given by the prosecution. The problem is that Americans love to fall in love with stories like this. They love to be riveted. The media loves the story of the attractive young defendant and the mystery and intrigue that goes along with it, which can lead to a skewed view of what is actually going on. Legal Analyst Wendy Murphy says that if you just look at all the evidence, it's a fairly open and shut case...

Naysayer John wants you to buy a solar powered bikeThey are government insured small business loans funded by the taxpayers. On top of the lack of a penalty if the loan goes unpaid, if the business taking out the loan can't make the payments on the loan, the taxpayers are left on the hook for the unpaid balance. To put it simply, it's another terrible government program that wastes taxpayer dollars. I talked a little about SBA loans on my show today and a naysayer named John was kind enough to call in to sing the praises of SBA loans. John also says that he plans to take out an SBA loan for an amount upwards of $100,000 to work an idea for solar powered bikes... I think John made a great case for why SBA loans are a bad idea. What do you think?

Have You Ever Wondered What It Might Take For Terrorists To Take Over The White House? So, what would need to happen for terrorists to take over the White House? Ricky Jones, a counter terrorism consultant, was charged with figuring out that very scenario while working on the movie "Olympus Has Fallen." Ricky was kind enough to join us while we were back at CPAC in Washington D.C., and he also joined us today on the show to talk about what went into the making of the film... |
