EUGENE, Ore. (AP) – Authorities say a Lane County Sheriff’s Office deputy has resigned amid criminal and internal investigations.

Lane County Sheriff’s Office Sgt. Carrie Carver says 43-year-old deputy Bryan Holiman of Eugene resigned Thursday after about 18 years with the sheriff’s office.

Carver says the sheriff’s office received a complaint in November that Holiman had made inappropriate sexual comments to a community member. An internal investigation unearthed a 2016 incident involving similar behavior with a different community member, Carver says, and the investigation was put on hold to allow for a criminal investigation.

After an outside investigation did not result in criminal charges, the internal investigation resumed and new information was received that prompted another outside investigation.

Whether the second criminal investigation will continue now that he has resigned is unclear.
