MARION COUNTY, Ore. – Crews worked all day getting a fire under control that broke out in North Fork Park Saturday.

The park is closed, and will not reopen for at least a couple more days.

Power Lines Spark Two Fires

MARION COUNTY, Ore. – Power lines were knocked down, the surge starting fires on Jefferson-Marion Road and Skelton Road.

Workers were in the middle of cutting wheat on the Jefferson-Marion Road SE filed, when one of the owners spotted smoke, finding the field on fire.

Fire crews found it started from wires that had arched, sparked and dropped to the field.

Public’s Help Needed in Armed Robbery

GLADSTONE, Ore. – Two men walked into the AM/PM on Arlington Street with a semi-automatic hand gun, demanding money around 4:40 Saturday morning.

They took off with the cash and jumped into a silver 4 door sedan with a get-away driver behind the wheel.

The suspects were both wearing red bandanas, 18-25 years old, one black and the other white.

Kayaktivists Protest Drilling Ship

PORTLAND, Ore. – Climate change activists plan to meet the icebreaker ship Saturday by kayak.

Named “Fennica”, the ship is part of Shell Oil’s fleet planning to search for oil in the arctic later this summer.

The hull was damaged earlier this month and is being repaired at Vigor Industrial’s Shipyard on Swan Island.

Man Arrested For Kicking Dog to Death

CLACKAMAS, Ore. – A man kicked a small dog to the point it was bleeding along the side of SE 82nd Drive.

The man, a woman and the dog were later found in a Gladstone Safeway parking lot, after a citizen who saw the abuse, followed the man.
