Leonard Nimoy, “Star Trek’s” Spock Dies

LOS ANGELES –- Leonard Nimoy, the actor known and loved by generations of “Star Trek” fans as the pointy-eared, purely logical science officer Mr. Spock, has died.

Nimoy’s son, Adam Nimoy, said the actor died Friday of end-stage chronic obstructive pulmonary disease at his Los Angeles home. He was 83.

Man Given Ticket for ‘Eating While Driving’

Alabama man Madison Turner was cruisin’ down the highway, steering wheel in one hand, and a McDonald’s double quarter-pounder with cheese in the other.  That’s when Georgia Police pulled him over, and the offer wrote him a ticket for eating while driving.  The officer cited Turner under the states distracted driving law.

Free Concert

The Decemberists kicked off a new album and world tour with a free concert at the Bing Lounge on Monday afternoon presented by our sister station, 101.9 KINK.

British Singer Joe Cocker Dies of Lung Cancer

NEW YORK — Joe Cocker, the raspy-voiced British singer known for his frenzied cover of “With a Little Help From My Friends,” the teary ballad “You Are So Beautiful” and a contorted performing style uncannily parodied by John Belushi on “Saturday Night Live,” has died. He was 70.
