PORTLAND — A $1.7M construction project on aging platforms at the Sunset Transit Center is underway on Wednesday and it could mean detours for Max riders for more than two weeks.
The platforms built in 1998 are sinking and need to be removed.
“We’re seeing some drainage issues. The grout has been kind of eroded by water,” said TriMet’s Angela Murphy.
Trains will not pick up or drop off and passengers getting on at points east or west will stay on the train and pass through the station. Those who planned to get on or off at the stop will be shuttled on buses to Washington Park or Beaverton Transit Center. TriMet says expect delays of up to a half hour.
The bike and ride lot will remain open for safe storage. The closure is expected through September 19th.
