Community Health Systems, which runs more than 200 hospitals across the country, including McKenzie Williamette in Springfield, has been cyber attacked. Experts believe it was launched from China.
The data stolen includes Social Security numbers from several million patients. Technology expert Bill Sikkens says he expects more of these security breaches as doctors convert paper files to digital.
According to Sikkens, every business needs a security plan for its servers. While that’s no guarantee that hackers will stay out of your computers, Sikkens says it makes them more likely to go to businesses that are less protected.
Community Health Systems also has hospitals in central and eastern Washington.
