Portland, Oregon   Each year Human Trafficking involves 1.2 million children and makes $32 billion dollars.  After drug dealing, human trafficking is the second largest growing crime in the world today.  nationally the average age of entry into trafficking is 12-14 years old.  Most

Sexually trafficked girls and women in Portland comes from within the metro area.  Portland police have been involved in at least 100 hotel related cases this past year.  The prostitution that used to take place on SE. 82nd and  on Northeast Sandy  has moved into hotels of every class in the city.

Becky Fields, General manager of the Raddison hotel says she was glad to  attend today’s gathering so she could learn more about what to look for.  “Recently our restaurant staff noticed something a little off between a young girl and a man that could have been her grandpa.  it turned out to be a sex trafficking situation.”  Housekeeping staff is also key in noticing things that might not be right.  The two hour seminar took place at the Double Tree Lloyd Center Hotel. it offered additional resources to all hotel management.

    geeze the LLoyd center IS the place where a LOT of the PDX sex trade takes place. appropriate for the meeting I guess!
