Portland, Oregon – The organizers behind one of Portland’s biggest fashion shows is looking to the public to create the next generation of “wearable technology.”
FashioNXT executive director Prasenjit “Tito” Chowdhury says over the next few years, wearable technology is expected to grow into a 10-billion dollar a year industry. But he says, the key is that the items look good.
“The more different the look, the more odd, the less chance it has of being adopted by the public,” he says. “For wearable technology to be accepted and adopted, it cannot be seen as anything other than regular fashion.”
FashioNXT has partnered with Digital Trends for a contest, offering $1,000 to someone that offers the best “fashion forwardness of conceptual designs and the designs ability to motivate the audience to desire the product concept.”
The finalists and winner will also receive recognition of their talent by having their design concepts showcased at the 2014 FashioNXT runway show in October.
