There are a million variations on this super summer sipper. But the classic, unadulterated, pure and simple is just right for these “dog days” of summer.
Ingredients: 6 medium sized lemons (squeeze to make 1 cup of lemon juice), 3-4 cups of cold water, 1 cup white sugar, 1 cup water
Simple syrup: 1 cup white sugar. 1 cup water= 3/4ths cup Make syrup by combing the sugar and water in a saucepan. Heat on the stove until the sugar dissovles. Do not boil. Once made, remove and allow syrup to cool.
Preparation: Squeeze the juice from the lemons to make 1 cup of lemon juice. In a pitcher, combine the lemon juice, 3-4 cups of water and 3/4 cup simple syrup. Stir to mix all ingredients. Refrigerate 30-60 minutes. Serve in beverage glasses filled with ice. Garnish with sliced lemon wheels (rounds). Makes 6 servings.
