PORTLAND — A bridge construction project now underway at Fanno Creek has closed Southwest Oleson Road for eight months just south of Beaverton Hillsdale Highway.
Washington County is asking drivers to detour to Hall Boulevard and Scholls Ferry Road to help ease congestion. They also encourage people to support the businesses in the Raleigh Hills area affected by the closure.
The county is replacing the bridge over Fanno Creek, which often floods and causes substantial damage. The project includes a new structure above the flood plain, bicycle lanes, sidewalks, street lights, landscaping and storm drains.
There’s a temporary bridge to allow bicyclists and pedestrians to safely get through the construction zone. The road is expected to re-open by late March of next year.
