BEAVERTON — A fire that destroyed the carport of a Beaverton apartment complex and damaged five cars was intentionally set, according to Tualatan Valley Fire and Rescue investigators.  They have turned the investigation over to the Washington County Sheriff’s Office.

They got several 9-1-1 calls just after 9:30 p.m. last night  reporting the sound of popping and explosions at the Canyon Park Apartments. Crews showed up in four minutes and were able to keep the fire from spreading from the carport to the  nearby apartments. It looks like the fire started in a trash dumpster.
