BEND, Ore. (AP) – The Oregon Occupational Safety and Health Division is investigating the state Transportation Department after two separate incidents this week in which workers were killed on highway projects.
KTVZ-TV reports a 64-year-ol Nevada man died Wednesday on Interstate 84 near Boardman. He worked for a construction company working on a paving project.
On Tuesday, a Transportation Department employee died at a work site on state Highway 320 near Echo.
Oregon OSHA spokesman Melanie Mesaros said Friday they will be looking at supervision and training and what kind of hazards were present at the job site, among other things.
Transportation spokesman Peter Murphy says the agency will be conducting its own investigation.
