Ground is broken on the 150 million dollar Daimler Truck headquarters that will be built next to its plant on Swan Island.

CEO Martin Daum says the construction means at least a 25 year commitment to stay in the city. It had threatened to pull out and move east five years ago.

The Governor and Mayor says the dedication of 20 million in public funds to keep the company here means hundreds of new jobs and a boost in trade for Oregon and Portland.
