WEST LINN, OR – Eleven people, including three young children, are homeless after a fire destroyed three West Linn duplexes early Wednesday.

Officials with Tualatin Valley Fire & Rescue say the fire began when a resident began cooking around 1am and left the stove unattended. The fire soon spread to area duplexes.

Arriving crews found heavy smoke and fire in the duplexes.  Witnesses also report popping noises, caused by small explosions after the fire reached a natural gas line in the area.

Fire officials say no one was injured.  A cat was found in one of the homes and was resuscitated by emergency response personnel.

The American Red Cross is on the scene, assisting in the placement of the residents affected by the fire.
