After eleven months of hiring gains, Oregon took a tumble in June.  The state says 43-hundred jobs were lost, largely in construction. The slowdown follows months of record hiring by builders.

State employment economist Nick Beleicicks (buh LAY chicks) says one month of job losses isn’t unusual during a recovery.  He says Oregon’s jobless rate held steady in June at 6.8%.

According to Beleicicks, the number of Oregon’s long-term unemployed continued to drop in June. He says these numbers will be revised as employers provide more information.
