PORTLAND — A man was killed when fire ripped through a Southeast Portland apartment early Friday morning. A mother and child in a neighboring apartment were among eleven people evacuated by the fire.
Crews were dispatched just after 3:00 to the Cascade Village Apartments on 125th off Division after a tenant called 911 to say the building was on fire.
The body of a 50 year-old man was pulled out of a hallway. He made it out of the bedroom and was forced back by the inferno. He could not be resuscitated.
Firefighters were able to keep the flames contained to one apartment. The Red Cross is assisting nine adults and two children who were displaced by the fire.
