Portland, Oregon – The hit Broadway musical, The Book of Mormon is back in Portland for a two week run at Keller Auditorium. It’s a special stop for the show’s star, David Larsen. He grew up in Hillsboro, graduated from Hillsboro High School and says the last time he was on stage at the Keller was back in the 80’s for a production of The Nutcracker.
Larsen plays Elder Price, one of two young Mormon missionaries sent to Uganda. His character is on stage non stop for the first 45 minutes of the show and Larsen says you learn to time your bathroom breaks.
The show comes from the creators of South Park . Larsen says he’s been a South Park fan long before he joined the tour. He says you can tell about three or four songs into the show which audience members with kids know what to expect and which ones don’t.
Asked why The Book Of Mormon is such a hit, Larsen said ” it really is a traditional musical. So if you like musicals, you will love this show. But it really walks that line of what’s okay to see on stage and what’s not okay to see on stage.” The Book Of Mormon will be at Keller Auditorium through July 20th.
