PORTLAND — The Oregon Department of Transportation announced that 28 LED signs have been activated in the Portland Area.  The signs will alert drivers to travel times.  A few weeks from now Advisory speed signs and Incident Ques will be added to the mix.  The idea is to get you where you’re going quickly and easily.  The Ques will give drivers more information on traffic situations if necessary.

Some of the places where you will see the new signs include I-84 at 28th Avenue.  I-205 at Gladstone and Highway 26 at the Zoo.  Highway 217 has been earmarked as critical corridor.  On average it has 265 crashes per year and  a 70 percent  rear -end collision rate. A sign posted there is expected to reduce the number of accidents.

Lasers have been set in places to evaluate ground conditions.  Oregon is the only state in the country to use LED technology to share weather conditions and road information.
