Divers spent hours searching for the body of 19-year old Austin Wolford after he slipped off his inner tube in the Yale Reservoir.

He struggled while he attempted to get back on, and when he couldn’t do that he tried to swim ashore, but never made it.¬†Charlie Rosenzweig with the Cowlitz County Sheriffs Office says his girlfriends father tried to jump in and save him, but wasn’t able to do so.

Witnesses say Wolford was not a strong swimmer, and that the young man was not wearing a life-vest.

Despite clear visibility, multiple dive-teams were unable to find his body.

Crews will head back out to the reservoir Monday and continue their efforts.
