Portland, Ore. — Two houses were burned down on the 4th of July.  An illegal firework set one house ablaze on Alder in Southeast Portland.  Gabriel Watson with Portland Fire says, the firework landed on the rear porch.

“The fire was caused by a mortar firework, which is an illegal aerial firework that shoot into the air before exploding.”

Fire crews from Rockwood and Gresham assisted, but the house was totaled by the fire. While the fire burned, people in the neighborhood kept setting off more fireworks. Portland Police have given out more than 100 citations for illegal fireworks this year. In Vancouver. another house was destroyed by fire on NE 108th Street. Firefighters say fireworks may be the cause of that fire too.
