Woodland, Wash. — A boat was found with its engine running on the Columbia River Saturday afternoon, but nobody was on board. The Coast Guard and the Columbia County Marine Patrol searched the entire area near the Lewis River. Police say they couldn’t find the boat’s owner, 25 year old Jay Jones of Battle Ground.
One witness says they saw someone in the water near the empty boat. Jones remains missing and is and presumed drowned. Officials did find the hat and boots they believe he was wearing. Boats are back out searching again Sunday.
