Hillsboro, Ore. — Trails in Hillsboro’s Jackson Bottom Wetlands Preserve are closed until further notice after another cougar sighting. This is actually the second time this week someone has seen a cougar in the area.

“On Monday we had a report of a cougar sighting by someone out walking the perimeter of Jackson Bottom. They saw the cougar and called our office.”

Mary Loftin with the City says that cougar was spotted on east side of the wetlands, this morning a woman saw one on the north side.  Last time the trails were closed for about a day.  The Jackson Bottom Wetlands Preserve is just south of downtown on the northern end of Highway 219.  Loftin says they’ll open the trails back up when they get the all-clear from the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife.
