VANCOUVER — The 91-unit Park Place Apartments would have been ready for renters early next year. Around 3:00 Friday morning, firefighters responded to 9-1-1 calls saying the four-story structure on Tech Center Drive was on fire.
By a little after 4:00, the structure completely collapsed. The two-alarm blaze had 40 firefighters on scene for hours.
“The fire is unusual,” said Vancouver Fire Marshall Heidi Scarpelli. Investigators have their work cut out for them.
The structure had some wiring and plumbing in, but no drywall or sheet rock. Two workers told FM News 101 they were just working on the fourth floor yesterday. Thirty to forty workers were on site everyday. The two men say they were blown away to see the building in ashes. They hope insurance will provide enough money to rebuild.
