Lee Rogers spent 15 years holding down the fort at 98.7 KUPL during the Morning Drive.  He was the voice many woke up to every morning.  Wednesday morning Lee passed away after suffering a stroke.

Midday Host Danny Dwyer worked with Lee for several years and says from the moment he walked through the door at KUPL, Lee welcomed him with a big hug and told him he was now part of his family.

Danny also told us about the time Lee thought he was a superhero.

Lee is survived by his wife Peggy, his step daughter Gina and thousands of Portland radio fans.

Lee Rogers was my favorite part of waking up in the morning. I loved his unabashed patriotism, his wit, and his dedication to his morning team, and he was a DJ personality that truly loved the genre of his station. Lee, in my book, joins the ranks of Portland’s most legendary broadcast personalities, people like Rod Anders and Jim Bosley, who believed in media that was honest, fun, and local.

Lee, known to me as Lynn was a 12 yr. school classmate in Wapato, WA. A fine man, a patriot veteran of Vietnam, fine musician just an all around good citizen! You will be missed by many! Proud to call you a dear friend. My heartfelt condolences to his family. Ron and Wilma
