Portland, OR – Mount Tabor Reservoirs 1 and 5 could soon be back on the city water system, if test results are clean.
The reservoirs were at the center of last weeks boil water alert, the largest in Portland’s history. Both have since been drained, cleaned and partially refilled.
The Oregonian reports that crews power wash the basins, partially fill them and then treat the water with a lot of chlorine. Then more water is added.
Reservoir 1 results are expected Wednesday. Reservoir 5 should be available on Friday. Both will be tested for the presence of total coliform and generic E. Coli bacteria.
