Portland, OR – Hail, thunderstorms and funnel clouds marked a wild day of weather in Portland and surrounding areas.

According to the National Weather Service, the Sunday downpour set a new record at Portland International, measuring 1.03 inches of rain and besting the previous record set back in 2004 (.59 inches).

Streets in Southeast Portland were flooded, after drains failed, sending water and sewage into nearby properties and homes.

The Oregonian reports a trained weather spotter saw a funnel cloud near Ridgefield.  And there are reports of a water spout sighting off the coast near Lincoln City.

Forecasters are calling for calmer weather for Monday, however, thunderstorms are still possible.
