Bashing Walmart

Written by Mike Turner on May 15, 2014

Portland City Commissioner Steve Novick announces the sale of Walmart bonds at a gathering at City Hall.

Walmart workers and their union were on hand as Novick took the action to reduce the city’s investment in the company.

Novick led the council into an agreement last year to track the city’s investments in socially responsible companies. He says the company’s treatment of its employees disqualifies it from receiving Portland’s investment dollars.

What the heck is with people. Walmart is not a horrible company. It provides jobs and like it or not affordable goods for the masses.

Instead of whining about an excellent company, the city of Portland should stop wasting our money on the bike bridge, bike lanes, green paint and give up control of the water supply.
