The Tonkin Brothers Remember Dad

Written by Mike Turner on May 13, 2014

Hillsboro Ballpark has been renamed Ron Tonkin Field.

Ed Tonkin says they bought the name as a tribute to his father who passed away in January. Ed says his dad loved baseball and remembers that time in the 80′s when Tonkin and partners bought the Portland Beavers so they wouldn’t leave town.

The Tonkin Family of Dealerships will pay the Hillsboro Hops 150 thousand a year for ten years for naming rights to the field which is only a year old.
