Car Into House In Vancouver Driver Hospitalized

Written by Rosemary Reynolds on May 5, 2014

VANCOUVER, WASHINGTON     The home of Marvin Papes looks like a battle zone.  It was hit by a speeding car.  The unnamed  Driver  suffered back injuries and underwent surgery after the crash.  Police say the female driver whizzed by them likely doing 80 to 90 miles per hour.

She failed to negotiate a roundabout.  The typical speed near a roundabout in a residential area is 25 miles per hour. The son of the driver told police and the homeowner  his mother had a medical emergency causing her to lose control of the car.  Before landing in the side of the house the car hit a light pole, then a shed, and a fence.  It also  flattened the top of Papes pickup truck parked outside his house. Several windows were smashed in the crash.

Papes and a friend were watching tv in another part of the house.  They heard a really loud noise and walked to the front of the house where they saw all the damage.
