Not what you want to walk into work and find on a Friday morning. A staffer at the state archive building in Olympia arrived around 7 am to find several inches of standing water on the main floor. State archivist Steve Excell described the scene as a swimming pool and what’s worse the water started to seep through the floor and was dripping onto hundreds of records from Southwest Washington on the floor below.
“And are archivist started going down and protecting the records that are stored on the flood below”, Excell says.
The quick response resulted in minimal damages. The source of all that water… a brand new water hose burst under the break room sink.
