2011 was the last time the Blazers saw the playoffs and will be as the No. 5 seed in the Western Conference. They face the Houston Rockets, sitting at the No. 4 seed and homecourt advantage with a 104-98 home win over San Antonio on Monday.
The Blazers (53-28) can still tie the Rockets (54-27) record-wise, but Houston defeated Portland three times in four meetings, gaining the tiebreaker.
San Antonio had locked in homecourt advantage and could claim the best record in the NBA throughout the playoffs. The dates of the Blazers-Rockets series are expected to be announced Wednesday, after all 30 teams play their regular-season finales. The playoffs start Saturday, so the first game in Houston will be either Saturday or Sunday.
The Blazers finish up the regular season on Wednesday with a home game against the L.A. Clippers.
