Rexo Retires and Max Steps In Protect TriMet Riders

PORTLAND, OREGON   Sgt. Jim Simms an officer with the Transit Police Division welcomes a new K9 as his partner, Max.  The name is just a coincidence.  The dog is a two year old lab mix.

Retiring is seven year old German Shepherd Rexo.  The dog will continue to live with Sgt. Simms  he loves to go for walks and play with his Kong.

These dogs are skilled in sniffing out explosives on a day to day basis sweeping trains and buses.  Rexo has been used to protect the President and the Dali Lama. Max and other dogs in the unit play a vital role in protecting riders and employees.  The dogs are eager to sniff out explosive materials identify threats and deter terrorists from targeting transit system.trimet dog 1
