Faculty at Portland State University have told school administrators they are going on strike. Both sides have worked for the past year to reach a new contract for professors including four hours on Wednesday but remain far apart.
If teachers go on strike it would happen April 16th and would be the first faculty strike ever at a public university in Oregon. The professors are asking for a pay raise more job security and more say on how the school is run.
Both sides say they will continue negotiations until the April 16th deadline.
