SCOTTS MILLS, Ore. (AP) – A Clackamas County sheriff’s spokesman says the body of a 62-year-old Molalla, Ore., woman who was reported missing March 16 has been found in a rural area outside the small community of Scotts Mills.
Lt. Robert Wurpes said searchers found Janice Ernest’s body Thursday afternoon. The search for her had intensified in the Scotts Mills area south of Portland after her car was found abandoned there Monday.
Wurpes says there are no signs of foul play.
Earlier statements from the sheriff’s office said Ernest suffered from bipolar disorder and was believed to be off of her medications, leaving her most likely “easily confused and disoriented.”
The sheriff’s spokesman says volunteers donated many hours to the search.
