David Herman will serve four years in prison for his guilty plea to criminally negligent homicide in the death of an 11 year old Aloha girl. Kylie Hornych was playing in the front yard of her home last April when the car driven by Herman plowed into her yard and ran her down.

The former Liberty High School science teacher told investigators he had a diabetic episode when he lost control of the car. Prosecutors were set to drop the charges until it was discovered this had happened before when he crashed is car into a tree in 2007.

As part of the plea deal he admitted guilt to the lesser charge of negligent homicide. He’s been in the Washington County jail since October.
