PORTLAND, OREGON The Portland Public School Board approved the spending of $7.2 million dollars for new turf at all High schools in the district. $5 million dollars comes from school construction tax revenue and the rest comes from community partners like Nike and the Timbers Army.
Madison High and Lincoln High are among the first to get the new turf for fields. “In the 4 years that I’ve been here the field never stays dry even though we’re quick to do the repair work,” says Madison Head Coach Adam Skyles. “The turf fields will be great for the whole community families will get to use the fields for soccer and other weekend activities.”
Construction on the fields should begin this summer.
