Portland, Oregon – Ophelia Belefant and her little brother Dashiell are busy getting ready for a silent auction Wednesday afternoon to raise money for Randall Children’s Hospital pediatric cardiology unit. Her dad, Brian says she learned last year that some kids have hearts that need fixing and she wanted to know what she could do to help.
They decided she and her kindergarten classmates at Abernathy Elementary could paint pictures of hearts and then sell them at a silent auction. Last year’s event raised $375 dollars.
This year, Dashiell’s kindergarten class will join the effort. Close to 50 paintings will be up for grabs at The Heart Show Wednesday from 3:30p.m.-4:30p.m. at Hot Lips Pizza on SE Hawthorne.
