Governor Signs Education Bills

Oregon’s Governor signed a pair of bills that would help more low-income students to earn college degrees.

 

One would create a pilot program at community colleges to provide scholarships and advising  to help get students to complete two-year degrees. The other is a study on how Oregon would provide free community college classes to high school graduates.

 


Driver of Stolen Vehicle Runs From Freeway Crash

BEAVERTON — A man driving a stolen truck took off from a crash on the Sunset Highway westbound at the Cornell Road exit on Tuesday afternoon.  He ran up the exit ramp, but didn’t get far.

Police tracked him down hiding in bushes north of the freeway at NW 153rd and Oak Hills Drive.  30-year-old Jose Duran-Maya was arrested.
