PORTLAND — Freshman Tech-Geometry Students at Benson High School spent today’s class preparing trusses for a shelter for the homeless at Dignity Village.  Students are applying the math they’ve learned in class sessions to the actual construction.  The students wearing tool belts and protective eye wear got in and put their heads together figuring out how the shelter could come together.

They will also work on a play structure for under -served children at a local daycare center.

Benson is one of 34 area high schools to receive a donation from Portland based Daimler Trucks this school year for a total of $238,000 donated to STEM programs locally.  The shelter is expected to be finished up by mid May.
