Tribes Oppose Legal Marijuana In Oregon

Written by Steve Leader on February 26, 2014

An organization representing 57 Northwest Indian tribes has gone on record against legal pot in Oregon.

The executive director of Affiliated Tribes of Northwest Indians, Terri Parr, says members had   questions about the anti-marijuana resolution, but that support for it was overwhelming.

Parr says tribes want to live in safe and healthy environments.  And that the legalization of pot would go against that goal.

The tribes also voted to partner with a national anti-marijuana group led by former congressman Patrick Kennedy.
